School SMART Cards

Dear all,

The children have received their School Smart Cards today. I've made scanned copies of their cards so that they need not bring the actual card to school (not necessary unless they take public transport). This is to prevent the loss of these precious cards. The scanned copied card can be used to borrow books from the school library too. Please take note of the information below.

To start using the SSC for concessionary travel, students are required to activate the card at the Ticket Office/Passenger Services Centres at the MRT/Bus Interchange by paying a refundable travel deposit of $1 in addition to the top-up value for the card. The minimum top up value is $5. You may wish to call TransitLink at 1800 2255663 for further clarification (if any).

Fund Raising Project for Library and Eco-garden

Dear Parents,

Your child would have return home today with a donation card. More information is stated below

The school is planning to raise funds to refurbish the library as a centre of knowledge management to inculcate our pupils' information literacy as well as to extend the Eco-Garden to provide our pupils with greater opportunities for experiential learning. We appeal for your support in making KCPPS an exciting place of learning for our children. [Taken from KCPPS Times - January]

Please ensure that your child does not bring the card to school unnecessarily as they might misplace it. With regards to lost cards, the holder of lost cards only need to write letter of declarations to the attention of OM KCPPS and a one time report would be initiated to the police for the cards that are lost.

In addition, as there is no need to apply for Fund Raising Permit for schools, pupils are not permitted to solicit from the public through e.g. house to house, at public places, shopping centres, MRT/LRT stations etc.. Sponsors can only be from among friends, parents, close associates but not public appeal.

I hope to collect back all cards and donations by 11 Apr 2007.
Thank you for your support.

Learning about Ordinal Numbers

Dear all,

We started this new term learning about Ordinal Numbers in Mathematics. A simple hands-on activity was conducted. The children were given ordinal number cards and they had to arrange themselves in the correct order. What you will see below is a short video clip of the children saying/shouting =) out their ordinal position as they arrange themselves accordingly. Following that are photographs of the activity. The children got the hang of the activity fast and certainly enjoyed themselves. They are able to recognize the ordinal numbers and now I hope they will learn how to spell them well! (1st/first, 2nd/second...)

Welcome to 1C, Briant!

Dear all,

I'm glad to introduce a new child who had just joined our class yesterday. His name is Briant Ng. I have assigned Juven and Zi Yang to be his buddies to help him familiarize himself to his new school environment. I hope the rest of the Couragers will also help Briant feel comfortable in the class and school. Our class is now a full strength of 30!

Thank you for coming

Dear Parents,

I hope the meeting up on 9 March was useful to you as it had been beneficial for me. I am now more better aware of the learning environment and behaviour of the children at home. This would help me to understand and guide the children better in the classroom. Also, thanks for the encouragement, support and suggestions you have given me. Have a good week ahead!
